Family Engagement Specialist | Rocio.Romero@cvesd.org

“The concept of inclusion and advocating for others has always been part of my life as I was growing up. As a child, I interacted with many different individuals. I even got exposure to people with mental health problems and other diagnoses because my mother was passionate about helping others. I learned to accept the unique features in every one. I always knew I wanted to continue helping people, but it was not until I started working with children with exceptionalities and their families that I decided that helping people was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

I attended San Diego State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development and received a minor in Spanish and in Counseling and Social Change. Once I graduated with my bachelor’s, I applied to San Diego State University again where I received my Master of Arts in Education. Throughout these programs, I completed different internships while I was employed as a Behavior Technician. My experience working with individuals of different cultures, ages, socio-economic statuses, identities, and abilities has made me a culturally competent and passionate person who strives to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

My goal as the new Family Engagement Specialist at Chula Vista Community Collaborative is to continue helping and advocating for families to help them become self-sufficient. Thank you to the staff of CVCC for giving me this opportunity!”

Ms. Rocio Romero will make sure all client referrals we receive from school districts get assessed and followed up by our attentive Community Referral Specialists at our Family Resource Centers.

Bienvenida to the CVCC Team!
